Ihtad Team at iiFBC2026
The Ihtad team attended the International Islamic Finance & Banking Conference (iiFBC2026), and it turned out to be an outstanding gathering. Among the many proposals discussed, two stood out for their clarity and importance.
The first focused on formal education. A strong recommendation was made to establish a specialized institute under Dhaka University dedicated to Islamic finance and banking. This would build structured, high-quality pathways for future professionals in the field.
The second addressed informal education. In Bangladesh, around 30 lakh people already hold Islamic banking accounts across various banks. Yet, most customers have limited understanding of even the basic principles — concepts like Mudaraba, Musharakah, and Murabaha. This knowledge gap remains a real concern.
The core message was clear: to develop a truly established and sustainable Islamic investment industry in Bangladesh, expanding knowledge of Shariah-based finance is essential — both through formal academic programs and practical, accessible education for everyday account holders.
Events like iiFBC2026 show that real progress happens when education and practice move forward together.
